Billings Wildlife Trapper Tip of the Month:
Mouse Predators
Most of the people may want to know what mice actually eat so they can set a trap to get rid of them and to store your food so they cannot get access to it. Mice love to eat everything that they will get into your kitchen.
Some people think rats and mice are the same, but they belong to different categories, and rats generally are larger than mice. Mice have different colors like white, brown, and gray. Some of the mice sizes are tiny, and the other is equal to a baked potato.
Mouse predators
There are various predators of mice that like to prey on them whether they live in open habitat or in a closed place like homes.
In the below, we are proving a list of animals that are considered as the natural predators of mice.
Birds
Birds that like to prey on mice are hawks, owl, and eagle as they can see the mice from a given distance. Their sharp eye-side helps them to target the mice and prey on them easily. Other birds that can eat them on chance are crow and blue jay.
Reptiles
Large Lizard can eat mice if they found them in open places, but snake love to eat them as their basic nutrition. As snakes can get into their holes, so for them, it is very easy to prey on them.
People who like to keep mice as a pet they can offer them to the snake, but when they are dead or in freeze form but still snake will eat them.
Mammals
We all are very well aware of cat and mice relations; they both are considered the worst enemy of each other, but the cat has the ability to prey on them so they would definitely take the chance to eat them.
House cats usually do not like to eat them, and we have even seen them playing together, but who knows when they get angry and decided to prey on them.
The larger animals like lion and tiger usually focus on big targets, but on the chance, they would definitely prey on them just to fill their belly. They can take it as light food that can reduce their hunger for a temporary basis.
Other animals that can ear mice are foxes, wolves, coyotes. Canines usually do not eat them, but they can prey on them if they are hungry and find them in front of them.
Human
Mammals and animals that are harmful to men in any way they will try to get rid of them as soon as possible. Mice always carry a lot of diseases with them, they had a bad odor that can cause breath issue, and they can put their poops anywhere. They can destroy your cables even if they get entered into your car for sure you are going to lose many wires and cables in them.
To get rid of them, most people use mice to trap others use poison or dog/cat; as a result, the mouse is going to run away from the house.
